Satu pertandingan perniagaan online antara Institusi Pendidikan MARA (PPOL2012) sedang berlangsung di http://www.my1stop.com.my. Pertandingan ini dianjurkan oleh Pusat Keusahawanan Siswa, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (Centre for Student Entrepreneurship, UniKL) dengan kerjasama Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) dan merupakan pertandingan perniagaan online pertama seumpamanya di Malaysia. SUGGESTED RELATED ITEMS

With the new suggested related items featured at the bottom of every item, buyers are now presented with other items related to the one they're currently viewing. So if you like bags from an e-store, you will immediately get to see other bags of the like that may interest you!

A note to our sellers: We encourage you to ensure your items are properly categorized for a better shopping experience in your e-store, especially for our paid e-stores where your item limit is from maximum 150 items to UNLIMITED. Subang Jaya, 18 June 2011 - My1Stop Virtual Shopping Mall (My1Stop.my) held our 7th My1Stop v2 Workshop at My1Stop office, with participation from our existing members as well new comers to My1Stop.my.

The event began with some brief introduction to My1Stop.my to especially our new members by our co-founder, En. Dzulfadhli Zainal Abidin, before the actual workshop session was held, conducted by My1Stop Crew. During the workshop, My1Stop Crew gave hands-on guide on how to use My1Stop e-store features to manage their online business and shared tips on online viral marketing and search engine optimization (SEO).

At noon, participators had their lunch break before the Muslims began their Zuhur prayer, led by Ustaz Anwar Hazemi of Manzil e-Shoppe, who also gave a brief tazkirah to the jemaah.

The event proceeded with a networking session for our new and existing entrepreneurs with participation by our top sellers, including owners of e-Farmasi, Faheem's Wardrobe, Manzil e-Shoppe, Usrah Halal Market and Haryati e-Store, who not only introduced their businesses but also shared valuable knowledge amongst participants.

My1Stop held its second session of the workshop during the evening, attended by entrepreneurs of D'trisya Bublbe and Haryati e-Store. The event was also joined by My1Stop's LIKE Fever 2010 winner, En Shahrizal Azali of Chaoz Craze.

My1Stop v2 Workshop #7 ended around 6.00 p.m. Thank you to all entrepreneurs who attended our workshop.

E-Store Stock Manager

New feature is in! We've recently upgraded your e-store system to accommodate better item stock management. Now you no longer have limited options of setting item availability to either 'Available' or 'Sold Out' only, but can choose to specify the item quantity left in your stock available for online ordering, by selecting the 3rd option 'Detect by Quantity'.

Kindly take note that with the 'Detect by Quantity' option selected, as the item gets purchased online successfully (via your My1Stop e-store), the system automatically deducts the quantity accordingly. '0 unit' will also be labelled as Sold Out and cannot be ordered online until its quantity updated to more than zero.

If you don't prefer this new option, you can always stick to the previous options of Available/Sold Out, where no quantity deduction is made upon completion of your customers' online purchase.

Here are some simple tips on how to use SU to promote your business. First, create a SU account. Install the SU toolbar and begin using SU. Find and rate websites in your business category. You need to have a proper profile to promote your business. Then, start to connect with other Stumblers (StumbleUpon.com users). Be friends with people who have similar interest. Segmen TTT kali ni nak tunjukkan cara mendaftar sebagai seller di My1Stop sebagai memenuhi permintaan daripada beberapa pihak yang berminat untuk mendaftar di My1Stop.my. Walaupun kali ni takde video, saya akan tunjukkan satu persatu cara nak daftar dengan gunakan snapshots. =)

Langkah demi langkah untuk mendaftar sebagai seller di My1Stop.my

1. Mula-mula sekali masuk ke website www.my1stop.my. Klik pada button "Create Seller Account" macam kat bawah ni :

2. Lepas tu page di bawah ni akan muncul. Sila isi kan maklumat2 yang diperlukan dalam borang tu. Jangan lupa juga pilih pakej sama ada pakej Business, Enterprise atau Startup dan klik kotak kat "I Agree" tu.. (^_^)

4. Tunggu "follow up" email kat Inbox email anda lepas dah siap klik "send application" tadi. Kalau takde kat Inbox, cuba check kat Spam. Jangan lupa mark mail tu sebagai "not spam".

*Jika anda pilih pakej Business atau Enterprise,lepas klik "Send Application" anda akan di-redirect ke laman web FPX.kad kredit untuk membuat pembayaran secara online. Kalau terlepas, xpe sebab nanti boleh lagi buat bayaran di My1Stop Shoppe dengan klik di sini (Business package renewal) atau klik di sini (Enterprise package renewal) selepas daftar.

Lepas dapat e-store activation email anda boleh terus berniaga di e-store anda di My1Stop.my.

Anda mula meninjau apa yang dilakukan oleh usahawan-usahawan lain pada laman Facebook mereka. Apabila mereka bergiat aktif menerusi Twitter pula, anda mula menyusul ke Twitter. Anda merasakan jika anda tidak berjinak-jinak dengan media sosial, survival perniagaan anda mungkin akan terjejas ... anda mungkin akan ditinggalkan pesaing anda!

Sistem menarik yang ditawarkan kebanyakan media sosial seperti Facebook & Twitter seperti Share, Retweet, Tag, Like, Invite, Mention dan sebagainya sememangnya satu peluang keemasan untuk usahawan meluaskan lagi pemasaran dan meningkatan penjenamaan. Namun begitu, wujud kecenderungan di kalangan usahawan untuk menggunakan kecanggihan ini ke arah pemasaran secara spamming, suatu pendekatan 'lama' yang boleh diibaratkan sebagai menyemakkan media sosial ekoran kegagalan memahami konsep media sosial itu sendiri.

Media Baru + Mentaliti Lama = Tidak Ke Mana

Berniaga menerusi laman sosial, jika tidak disertakan dengan kefahaman yang cukup tentang konsep sosial media, akan mewujudkan persekitaran tidak menyenangkan bagi prospek para usahawan. Perlu diingat, memahirkan diri dengan teknik menggunakan features yang ada tidak cukup untuk menjamin kejayaan membuat pemasaran menerusi media sosial. Barangkali, kita sekadar spammer yang menjelikkan prospek pelanggan kita.

Dengan begitu banyaknya saingan usahawan di dalam sosial media, pelanggan pasti akan menyesarkan sebarang jemputan dari usahawan yang dilihat keterlaluan atau 'memaksa' untuk memastikan pengalaman media sosial mereka lebih menyenangkan. Apakah perasaan anda ditag oleh entiti yang sama bertubi-tubi, mendapat mesej di inbox dari entiti yang sama juga bertubi-tubi, dan dijemput bersahabat dengan begitu banyak peniaga yang tidak anda kenali hanya untuk kemudiannya dispam ibarat bersahabat dengan mesin? Terus-terang, tidak setiap kali perkara ini menyenangkan saya, meskipun saya sendiri berniaga. Bagaimana pula dengan pengguna lain yang langsung tidak terlibat dengan perniagaan dan kurang memahami para usahawan?

Like/Follow = Ukuran Populariti?

Bilangan LIKE pada sesuatu laman Facebook masih sedikit-sebanyak menjadi ukuran kepada populariti perniagaan anda di Facebook, meskipun laman anda mungkin diLIKE atas pelbagai sebab selain menyukai/menyokong perniagaan anda. Usahawan seharusnya tidak leka dibuai keseronokan menerima bilangan LIKE sepertimana Follow untuk blog, di mana ada pula pihak tertentu yang mengajar blogger untuk Follow blog lain untuk tujuan promosi blog sendiri - anda tidak lagi dapat membezakan siapa yang berminat mengikuti post blog anda atau tidak. Yang penting ialah LIKE = PEMASARAN SECARA VIRAL dan kesempatan ini harus digunakan oleh usahawan untuk convert 'Pengikut Tanpa Niat' (PTN) anda kepada pengikut setia anda.

Sama seperti sistem Twitter, jika mereka yang follow anda berasa Tweet anda wajar diikuti, mereka akan membiarkan anda di dalam senarai 'Following' dan anda akan berpeluang mendekati mereka sedikit demi sedikit. Bagaimana untuk convert PTN kepada pelanggan anda, atau setidak-tidaknya 'kakitangan pemasaran' anda? Ada caranya ... cara media baru ... dan ia tidak berlaku dalam sehari dua ... ia memerlukan kesabaran dan teknik yang pastinya meletakkan spamming jauh, jauh ke tepi ...

Jawapan = Bina Hubungan!

Media sosial ialah mengenai proses membina hubungan. Inilah membezakan kaedah pemasaran era lama internet dengan era masa kini. Rangkaian pengguna internet hanya akan semakin membesar dan segala spamming anda akan hanya datang dan pergi dikacamata prospek anda. Anda mungkin merasakan semakin kerap anda sogokkan URL kepada mereka, mereka akan akhirnya klik, tetapi hakikatnya mereka sentiasa ada pilihan untuk sesarkan anda daripada pandangan mereka dengan Remove, Unlike atau Unfollow anda. Apa yang perlu anda lakukan untuk kehadiran anda memberi impak?

Berikut saya kongsi beberapa tip hasil kajian dan pengalaman saya sendiri:

1) Berinteraksi secara 2 hala. Jika anda di Twitter, anda kelihatan agak menjengkelkan jika anda (1) tidak menunjukkan minat untuk Follow orang lain tetapi mengharapkan pihak lain Follow anda, dan (2) menggunakan Twitter anda sebagai sistem berita & tidak sesekali peduli untuk retweet atau reply tweet orang lain.

2) Selang-selikan post 'hard-sell' dengan post-post mengandungi maklumat berguna yang boleh dikaitkan dengan perniagaan anda ('soft-sell').

3) Pastikan ayat yang digunakan untuk mempromosi URL anda cenderung ke arah 'apa kelebihan yang pembeli boleh terima' dan bukannya 'siapa anda dan apa yang anda buat'.

4) Beri sokongan kepada teman usahawan lain dengan memberi komen membina, Like, Retweet, dsb. Ia tidak sukar malah boleh membina persahabatan baru sesama usahawan. Usahawan tidak rugi apa-apa dengan menyokong usahawan lain. Usahawan hanya rugi apabila cuba mensabotaj sesama sendiri.

5) Hubungi atau bertanya khabar kepada pelanggan-pelanggan yang pernah berurusniaga dengan anda secara berkala. Jangan hanya masyuk ingin mencari prospek baru sehingga lupa bahawa anda sebenarnya lebih mudah mendapat jualan daripada pelanggan-pelanggan lama anda.

6) Elakkan kata-kata kurang sopan, berunsur provokasi atau memburukkan perniagaan usahawan lain. Ia hanya akan mendedahkan pekung di dada dan membantutkan usaha anda membina hubungan.

7) Post ulangan tidak menjadi masalah selagi ia tidak dilakukan secara kerap. Post terlalu kerap dan anda boleh dikira sebagai spamming.

8) Elakkan Tag 'sahabat anda' sejurus anda berjaya menjadi sahabatnya. Cuba bina hubungan dahulu dengan ucapan terima kasih atas penerimaan jemputan sahabat, dsb.

9) Elakkan spamming menerusi sistem mesej peribadi di Facebook dan Twitter walaupun ia kelihatan peribadi kerana anda bukanlah satu-satunya 'sahabat' prospek anda. Kerapkali mesej sebegini akan bertimbun di inbox mereka dan menjadi punca mudah untuk anda disesarkan daripada jaringan hubungan prospek anda.

Harap tips di atas (walaupun anda mungkin sudah mengetahuinya) berguna kepada semua usahawan termasuk saya sendiri, sekurang-kurangnya sebagai renungan untuk kita kaji semula jika kita benar-benar telah naiktaraf mentaliti dan pendekatan kita searas dengan perkembangan media sosial itu sendiri. Kita bawa mentaliti baru bersama media baru untuk peluang perniagaan yang lebih baik!

If you are a seller with a Facebook account, or a website/blog of your own to start with ... then you should read on ...

Frankly I have not seen much of RSS Feed flying around in sellers’ Facebook walls, e-commerce websites nor blogshops, possibly due to the failure of realizing the potential of RSS in boosting businesses, hence the reason why I choose to highlight this valuable viral marketing tool. Don’t worry, I will not go into the technical aspects of RSS as this article is intended for sellers, not developers.

Understanding the RSS Feed

RSS is a simple & efficient way for any web user to subscribe to any latest content of any website e.g. news articles, blog posts, photos or videos, without having to visit the website itself. This has become especially useful now that the internet is flooded with loads of content-driven websites and visiting each website to find out the latest updates can be wearying. Subscribing to e-mails may not be the best answer either as too many e-mail notifications spells 'messy inbox' and such e-mails can often be mistaken as spam/unwanted e-mails.

Here's where RSS Feed solves the problem …

With RSS Feed, web users can subscribe content from multiple websites and display them in their own ‘space’ such as their Facebook walls, their blogs, feed reader sites e.g. Bloglines, My Yahoo! or Google Reader or even their browser e.g. Mozilla Firefox and the Internet Explorer 7. So all your favorite goodies can now be fed to you in one place instead of you going around the cyber space, wasting time looking for what may and may not be important to you!

Depending on the limitations set by the feed reader applications, subscribers normally can choose the number of items to be displayed, full description or excerpt, with optional publishing date, author, image, etc. Each feed item carries a link to the source website so one can go straight to the topic/item of interest.

The magic works like this – A website hosting the content should first have a system that converts its content e.g. news articles, into a standard format for the RSS reader. This content is supplied to a subscriber in a form of a URL (commonly identified by the label "RSS Feed" and the RSS icon . By simply inputting this URL into an RSS Feed reader, the website content can now be 'magically' displayed & best of all, constantly updated for the subscriber.

For New Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs & even My1Stop Virtual Shopping Mall e-stores, the ‘recent content’ conversion to RSS Feed format has already been provided to its users for free. Sorry, Blogger does not support images in the feed items. Since blogs are networked to one another in many ways, using RSS Feed in a blog still gives you viral marketing. In fact, it is advantageous to both the blogger and the Feed author as the Feed content can also be crawled by search engines and has been shown to have contributed to the blogs keywords, which in turn gives the blog higher chances at being listed in search results.

To display RSS Feed in your browser, you just have to click any RSS Feed URL and follow the steps shown by your browser. With Mozilla Firefox, you can display any feed on your bookmark tab using Live Bookmarks application.

In a nutshell …

RSS Feed is a way for web users to have their own ‘personalized daily digest’ – updated news column, business tips, catalog, gossip segment … you name it. It is a great way to aggregate & organize the massive amount of content from the web, tailored to one’s interest.

To a seller, RSS can be an effective & efficient tool for expanding business to a wider market at least cost & effort. It is a (normally) free method to encourage others to subscribe to your latest content e.g. catalog, promotions, etc. and to enable sharing of your updated content from one network to another beyond your normal reach. It is about using the New Media to its full potential & doing business online wisely. This in no way suggests that you ignore other marketing strategies, but merely as an addition to your multitude of efforts in boosting your business – an addition, that if disregarded shall leave you in a loss ;)

400 usahawan menerusi talian dikenakan tindakan tidak daftar perniagaan

PULAU PINANG: Dalam tempoh dua tahun lalu kerajaan sudah mengambil tindakan terhadap 400 individu yang menjalankan perniagaan menerusi Internet kerana tidak berdaftar dengan Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia.Timbalan Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri, Koperasi dan Kepenggunaan, Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim berkata, kesemua mereka dihadapkan ke mahkamah mengikut Seksyen 12 (1)(a) Akta Pendaftaran Perniagaan 1956 (Pindaan 2001) yang membawa hukuman denda tidak lebih RM50,000 atau penjara tidak lebih dua tahun.

"Individu atau syarikat yang menjalankan perniagaan menggunakan laman web atau Internet sebenarnya tidak terkecuali dan mesti mendaftarkan perniagaan mereka," katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Majlis Dialog Amalan Perniagaan Beretika Zon Utara, di sini hari ini.

Katanya, langkah itu bertujuan melindungi pengguna daripada unsur penipuan selain memastikan peniaga mematuhi etika perniagaan.

Beliau berkata, kerajaan juga menerusi Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia sentiasa memantau laman web yang menjalankan perniagaan bagi mengesan pihak yang gagal mendaftarkan perniagaan mereka.

SABTU 5hb JUN 2010- My1Stop telah mengadakan bengkel kepada para peniaga samada yang telah berdaftar mahupun masih belum berdaftar tentang cara-cara untuk menggunakan platform My1Stop dalam memajukan perniagaan mereka. Bengkel ini merupakan yang ke-3 yang telah dijalankan pada tahun ini.Bengkel yang pertama telah dijalankan pada 20hb Mac 2010,manakala bengkel yang ke-2 pada 24hb 4 2010. Bengkel ini bermula sekitar jam 11pagi dan berakhir sekitar jam 3petang. Motif utama diadakan bengkel seperti ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengajar cara menggunakan platform My1Stop dengan sebaik mungkin. Selain itu bengkel ini juga dapat merapatkan hubungan antara crew My1Stop dengan peniaga-peniaga yang selama ini hanya berkomunikasi secara online.

Bengkel ini dimulakan dengan bahagian pertama iaitu sedikit penerangan berkaitan My1Stop yang disampaikan oleh Co-Founder/CEO, Encik Dzulfadhli Bin Zainal Abidin. Penerangan seterusnya iaitu bahagian kedua disampaikan oleh krew Sarah dan krew Hajar yang turut dibantu oleh krew Rozwin serta krew Hazry. Bagaimana untuk Meningkatkan Jualan Anda Menerusi Kedai Anda di My1Stop

Kerap saya ditanyakan soalan di atas … Hakikatnya, memang ada e-store yang mencapai jualan yang memberangsangkan manakala ada yang tidak. Yang jualannya kurang baik, mereka tertanya-tanya … apa puncanya? Saya ada membuat perbandingan antara e-store dan sedikit research tentang hal ini. Jadi bacalah selanjutnya untuk tahu kunci-kunci kejayaan sesebuah e-store di My1Stop …

Apabila jualan & sambutan kurang baik, ada juga yang menyalahkan My1Stop kerana tidak membawa pelanggan kepada mereka sebagaimana yang mereka harapkan. Realitinya, tanggungjawab terhadap produk/perkhidmatan dan pemasaran adalah di bahu peniaga itu sendiri. Jika anda buka kedai fizikal dan kemudian tidur di dalam kedai itu sambil menunggu kot-kot ada pelanggan yang akan datang, pastinya sambutan terhadap kedai anda tidak memberangsangkan sebagaimana kedai sebelah (contohnya) yang membuka kedai, mengedarkan risalah-risalah, membuat iklan dan mempromosi produk-produk secara agresif ... bukankah begitu?

Berikan juga gambar2 dari pelbagai sisi untuk slideshow agar pelanggan anda lebih yakin dengan apa yang mereka bakal beli. Kurang keraguan pelanggan bermakna lebih potensi jualan.
MAKLUMAT PRODUK YANG JELAS & LENGKAP

Berikan maklumat item (item description) yang komprehensif - lengkap dengan ciri-ciri item seperti saiz sebenar, pilihan warna, kelebihan item, testimoni, video jika ada ... lebih banyak maklumat, lebih arif pembeli terhadap apa yang bakal mereka beli (kurang keraguan pelanggan bermakna lebih potensi jualan). Lebih penting lagi, anda menambah kebarangkalian enjin carian menemui item anda (akan diterangkan di Bahagian 8).
PEMASARAN E-MAIL SECARA PERIODIK

Menghantar email mengandungi katalog anda (menggunakan Template Katalog e-store anda) kepada pelanggan dan kenalan secara periodik (dari masa ke semasa secara berkala). Anda tidak lagi perlu upload & attach setiap gambar ke dalam mesej email, sebaliknya semuanya tersedia di dalam format yang teratur untuk anda Copy&Paste ke dalam ruangan mesej email. Why Web Statistics Are Important for Your Online Business: Part II

This post is a follow-up of my previous post: Why Web Statistics Are Important for Your Online Business: Part I

Previously I gave an overview of why Web Statistics are important for your online business. As promised, I’ll walk you through key statistics sellers should pay attention to by analyzing the webstats of one of My1Stop e-stores, e-Farmasi @ http://e-farmasi.my1stop.my. #1 SUMMARY

Summary shows you the number of page hits, unique visitors and/or returning visitors who came to your store for a specified duration, depending on your preferred settings. In the above example, I selected ‘Daily’, for the ‘Last 14 Days’ and eliminated the page loads/hits to only show unique visitors and returning visitors as I am not too interested in page hits. The above stats snapshot shows that on 12 May 2009, e-Farmasi had 69 unique visitors, with 8 returning visitors. While web stats are never to be taken as 100% accurate, they do provide you with figures as close to actual as a system can possibly produce. So now we can pretty much say that on 12 May 2009, e-Farmasi had 69 individuals shopping about in their store, and 8 of them were returning customers. E-Farmasi has for the past 14 days, a total of 1,071 page views and 518 customers with 86 of them were returning customers. E-Farmasi has an average of 35 customers a day (for the past 14 days).

With the settings changed to ‘Weekly’, e-Farmasi (with the tracker plugged-in since 18 March 2009) has 602 total customers shopping in its store in March, 1,164 customers in April (full month) and 817 customers in May (up to 26 May 2009). Average customers weekly received for 2009 is 861 with 1,683 page views of the store.

How is this useful to a seller?

The summary shows the seller the increase/decrease of customers his website/webstore receives for the seller to later strategize his marketing efforts. For instance, it can be seen that with a few days left in May, it would take extra marketing efforts for e-Farmasi to reach, if not beat, their record in April.

If a seller has recently advertised his store or product on a popular website, he would want to see if his effort has paid off or not. The number of unique visitors before and after the advertising done can then be compared to see if the marketing was successful. The seller might later try to do some email marketing and do the same comparison. Now the seller can compare the two different marketing strategy results from the stats and have a better picture of which marketing strategy is more effective.

The unique visitor stats can also tell a seller whether there is an increase or decrease of visitors coming to his store during festive season vs normal days, and weekdays vs weekends. With this information, the seller can strategize his marketing period and duration. The virtual world/customers have their own characteristics – when they most probably will go online or offline, when they will shop virtually or physically. Find this out through your stats!

Have your stats set for a longer duration to see if your store has gained more customers than before or the opposite. This is important to see if your business has gained more attention than before or if it needs more marketing or re-strategizing. Businesses must grow, not be static, let alone wither!

#2 RECENT KEYWORD ACTIVITY

Recent Keyword Activity shows the keywords that a web user has searched for, via search engines like Google & Yahoo that brought the visitor to your store. It also shows the search engine used, the search listing page where your store is listed (clickable), and which page they were taken to from the search listing.

The above example shows that on 25 May 2009, a web visitor found (and went into) e-Farmasi when he searched for ‘nasal spray 357’ at Google Search. The visitor arrived at http://www.my1stop.com.my/v1/index.php?view=full&lot=33&itemid=1713. The stats also shows that e-Farmasi has had customers coming into their store from multiple other search keywords such as ‘steroid dalam alphalipid’, ‘hurodoid cream’, ‘perspirex’, ‘neurogain’, and more (it stretches to many more pages – why of course, My1Stop performs search engine optimization (SEO) on all its e-stores :) … and the seller has many products with detailed product information too!)

How is this useful to a seller?

When doing business online, it is important to be searchable – can be found when customers search for keywords relevant to your business/product in major search engines. Recent keyword activity does not only tell a seller what keywords brought customers into their store for a better idea of which product or section of his website/store draws people in, but more importantly how well his store is doing in search listings (how searchable a seller’s store/product is). This guides a seller on how to present his web content to gain more visitors from search engines e.g. better product description that highlights important key notes about the product/business.

#3 RECENT CAME FROM

Recent Came From tells you where your visitors came from (clicked) to arrive at your store. It could be from another website, from an email message, from a search listing, or in the case of My1Stop E-Store, from other parts of the mall e.g. other e-stores, from My1Stop search, etc.

Pay attention to the ‘came froms’ in the red boxes.

This URL shows that a customer searched for a product in My1Stop Virtual Shopping Mall and clicked on a product in the search results that belong to e-Farmasi.

This URL shows that a customer came to e-Farmasi from myhappyclub.com website (in this case would be e-Farmasi’s Advertisement banner (given free to every My1Stop featured e-store) published at myhappyclub.com.

c) http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&view=bsp&ver=1qygpcgurkovy

This URL shows that a customer arrived at e-Farmasi from a link in an email message (possibly from the seller’s email marketing)

d) http://www.wanitamelayu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12717

This URL shows that a customer came to e-Farmasi through a link at wanitamelayu.com’s forum.

e) http://sg.search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A3xsfM0x9A9KnpsA4Bkj4gt.?p=kinohimitsu D% ...

This URL shows that a customer came from a search listing at Yahoo Search.

How is this useful to a seller?

A seller could use this information to evaluate his marketing efforts – Has my email marketing been successful? Has my paid advertising on a website been worth my money? Has my marketing in a message board/forum drive in potential customers? Should I continue these efforts? Which type of marketing should I emphasize on?

If a seller has promoted in his blog, a link to his e-store as the venue for customers to purchase his products using credit card, then an arrival from that link shows that there is a demand from his customers to purchase online using credit card.

#4 COUNTRY

With Country feature, a seller gets to see from which countries his customers accessed his store from, pretty much indicating (although not necessarily) the customers’ origin. The above stats shows that e-Farmasi has had 88.0% of customers coming from Malaysia, followed by Singapore with 2.8%, Indonesia and the united States with 1.2% respectively, and multiple other countries including Korea, Brunei, Cambodia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Nigeria, India, Germany, Canada, etc.

How is this useful to a seller?

If the list comprises various countries, a seller should consider organizing his website/store content for international customers e.g. having product descriptions in English or even other translations, or consider various delivery methods convenient for customers all over the world. It also tells a seller that he already has a global market to tackle, so the seller might want to start thinking of the demands in these countries and possibly tackle it.

So there you have it … the golden nuggets in a webstat. Sure … in business, your concern would be the actual purchase itself … but to have better potential at making sales, you’ve got to do research and not merely wait for riches to fall from the sky. You’d want to know how to draw in more customers because as has been mentioned in my previous posts, normally out of the many potential customers you get, only 10% end up as your actual customers (who make actual purchases). So the more store visitors you get, the more potential you have at making sales.

While most sellers already know that marketing is essential in any business’ success, some still fail in strategizing an effective marketing plan, simply because of their lack of research as to the whos, whats, whens and whys revolving their store visitors and visits. So be sure to view your web statistics to analyze and understand the otherwise invisible activities within your website … and then see for yourself how your business start to flourish!

Have your own online business and becoming dispirited and demoralized due to poor online sales? I’ve heard that numerous times. While it may seem like virtual business is ‘all that’, being less costly, more accessible, more efficient … some online sellers would agree that their online sales haven’t been as ‘all that’ as they had hoped when they initially ventured into the virtual business realm. Becoming instantly rich through online business has not been the story for every online seller … but … to simply quit is NOT the thing to do!

You have to find out what went wrong and start re-strategizing. The thing is … with the virtual world, we lack visual details for analysis. How can you tell if your advertising efforts were successful or not at drawing in customers to your store when you can’t visually see your customers rushing in? Is your web store getting the crowd it should or do you need to do more marketing? Who are your customers and are they returning to you? Which part of your web store is crucial, which is not? Where to get theses details???

What are web statistics? Why are they useful / what do they tell you? Where can you get / view them?

Web statistics is a collection of data about your website users’ activity and public details (ip address, browser, operating system, referrer, page title and url etc). They tell you who visits your website, when was your website visited, from where, by how many people, what are they looking for, and more … daily, monthly, quarterly, yearly. If you have your own website, normally it is plugged-in with a web statistical tool like Webalizer, which can be viewed via your CPanel. For those seeking even more statistical information with better graphical charting options you may use free web trackers such as StatCounter, Google Analytics, AWStats, GoStats.

I have personally used both StatCounter and Google Analytics and while both are awesome, I have my heart set on StatCounter for 3 reasons: 1) I’ve used StatCounter long before I decided to give Google Analytics a try – bias; 2) there is a lag in displaying the statistics with Google Analytics which bothers me as I am pretty much an impatient person … StatCounter on the other hand gives me the stats in realtime; & 3) I think we’ve had enough Google invasion in our lives – I would love for other good businesses to soar as well :) In a nutshell, StatCounter is less advertising-centric in its approach versus Google Analytics. For general sellers, I would say that StatCounter is good enough to get you out of your blues of being handicapped in virtual business analysis.

How do you get StatCounter to track your website activities and let it produce for you your website/blog/store statistics? What’s the Hype with New Media? I have been surfing & Googling the word New Media;

New media is a term meant to encompass the emergence of digital, computerized, or networked information and communication technologies in the later part of the 20th century. Most technologies described as "new media" are digital, often having characteristics of being manipulated, networkable, dense, compressible, interactive and impartial. Some examples may be the Internet, websites, computer multimedia, computer games, CD-ROMS, and DVDs. New media is not television programs, feature films, magazines, books, or paper-based publications.

Okay, flip that page … in a nutshell, New Media is reflected by the following:

Revolutionizing of traditional media
Nowadays often referenced to communication in the digital world
Communication is no longer one way
Information travels much faster than it used to between people – almost always in 'realtime'
Everyone can be more expressive & ‘be heard’
Sharing content becomes universal

So, really … the New Media, as referred to above, isn't new stuff after all since the 90s, only the intensity of usage has increased and become more universal – almost everyone’s into it. Now when people say New Media, I am quick to jump to thinking Blogs, Facebook, YouTube, Social Bookmarking & Sharing, RSS Feeds, Second Life and the like. It is almost like now, New Media significantly focuses on the network part of the Cyberculture. But this will change with time and what’s new today will not be the same new stuff tomorrow. This is why the hype with New Media will forever remain. There should not be specific activities incorporated in the definition of New Media, as these change. So when you want to brand a medium as New Media, it has to be borne in mind that THAT medium has to continuously evolve and offer to users something new, new, new.

Recently, My1Stop.my, an online shopping mall that was born in 2006 with the concept of Web 2.0 (here’s another hyped term :p), was branded by its Co-Founder (the other one) as the New Media for Entrepreneur, in conjunction with its release of version 2.1. My1Stop exhibits the current trend of New Media from its very root of existence – its shopping mall concept that creates a network of sellers and buyers. My1Stop, like YouTube, Facebook & Wikipedia, is a portal that grows by feeding on users’ content, which in the case of My1Stop, would be the shops and products fashioned by its sellers, and reviews & comments supplied by all sellers’ customers. With all stores gathered under one roof, every seller can benefit from each others’ marketing effort – "your customer is my potential customer".

With My1Stop v2.1, it further emphasizes its commitment as a New Media with the provision of even more well-integrated marketing, sharing & communicating tools e.g. inviter system, social bookmarking, chat, review system, RSS feed & improved widgets for blog, forum, e-mail, newsreaders, browser & social networking sites, on top of its v1 applications. New Media for entrepreneurs will likely take a newer shape in the next decade. The question is whether today’s entrepreneurs are fast at fully utilizing it to their advantage or are entrepreneurs to leave New Media as an over-hyped terminology and remain safe in their 'comfort-zone' of "I’m doing alright already!".
